We had a huge walk along the mid section of the Wye Valley near Builth Wells at the weekend.
It's rather pretty, don't you think ? I never mind what the temperature is as long as there's a clear blue sky, it was glorious, but bloody cold, the diesel froze in my car on Saturday night, we had to push it into the sunshine to thaw out ! Parts of the shallows had frozen, which our friends' dogs found very odd, but all the kids had great fun breaking up the ice. We also found a near perfect spot for skimming stones, with a rocky beach chock full of wonderfully flat, round skimmers.
Needless to say, part of the weekend involved the usual session of liver abuse, which made the crisp cold air all the more welcoming.

OMG! I didn't know diesel could FREEZE! Geez, even vodka doesn't freeze! lol
When I was stationed in Labrador the Avgas tanker drivers kept three kettle heating elements in each lorry fuel tank at night!
Love the Wye though. Don't know Builth but spent much time in Llandovery where elder bro went to college (Barry John was his housemaster).
Vi, my anorak mate informs me it freezes at -5, so it was bloody cold !
B, I was at Monmouth School, so LC was a big rival along with Christ's. Some sod from Llandovery caught me a beaut smack on the chops, resulting in some expensive dental work.
You were at MSB? My cousin was too (Llewellyn Hughes). I was at Llanarth Court prep until I got expelled...
Yep, 79-86, how old is your cousin ?
He'd be about 51 or so now? I'm not sure if he got kicked out or saw his term of duty through. He did leave school and spend years in Spain and Latin America, avoiding the more traditional lifestyle...
