'Sup, as the kids said. Years ago.

What to blog and when to blog it. I have lots to express ( none of it breast milk) but at the moment this is not the place to let it out, for my own foolishness.

Ahem.

Life is odd, and I'm not in the best place. I've cocked my frontal quad again, which means no sport, and that gets me arsey, a kind of locked up feeling.

I have a work problem. A few years ago ( look at the archives, if you truly can be arsed) I sold a business which I'd had in partnership with another chap for a few years. I made a few key mistakes.

We sold the premises. Pure twatishness. New business park, designed by me ,next to the M5. Oh, the joys of hindsight. But , we both felt the need for the clean break, and taking the money.

Then, I took a long time off. Mortgage, family, a few expensive holidays, as our colonial cousins say, you do the math. Chuck a couple of nice cars in, and some work to the house, and, adios. You forgot the tax bill, you fucking retard.

New business, one fantastic client. One, I hear you cry, nope, they rely on me as much as I do on them. But a few years in, it's all odd. They're an oil company, the place to be in these times.

I wanted to be at home more, with A and the boys, pulling reasonable money. But now I'm pulling more than reasonable money, but struggling. Working too hard, getting as stressed as I was before.

What a fucking whinge.

But so ?

I can make choices, and I'm not sure that I make the right ones sometimes.

I'm not that happy, although I should be, and I don't know the reason for this.

I'm usually very positive, and very in control, but my mind is partial to distractions that probably are not that good for me at this time

It probably doesn't help it's school hols and you would rather be spending more time with your boys!

It sounds to me as if you have so many (I really don't want to say 'distractions') things on your radar that your main problem is in selecting which thing you should concentrate on first - and how much concentration you should give to each of them. Would this be right?

And you're also aware that the client situation isn't ideal and that is niggling away at your subconscious too - even when you don't realise it, probably.

And there's the work/life balance at the forefront of your mind - and that's always a difficult one to deal with; made much more difficult with various commercial considerations vying for brain space at the same time.

All these things are adding to your pile, adding to your general feeling of being 'unsatisfied'.

And the thing about choices - it's easy to make half-right choices if one is distracted by other things.

How close am I on any of these things?

Well, all I can say is that they were different times!
You need to recall the hardships and general pain in the arse that came along like a bunch of London Buses on an all too regular basis.

Working in the Corporate world is pretty weird for me now and I do look back on the "old days" with some pleasant memories but then reality bites your bum and I see that the right decision was made.

I hope that you pass your down in the dumps stage fairly quickly and move along to a more positive outlook.

Too bad about your injury but maybe you would care to trade it for my broken arm?

DO NOT EVER FALL OFF A HORSE - IT HURTS!

As for your mate "Brennig" there - How do you come up with that stuff at 7.56 am I mean before 8.00 am quite impressive and whats your best price for the horse box?

Anyway - Off to the Algarve tomorrow so away from this Dublin traffic early for me today! Tara and take care and cheer up you jessie!

Trix,
I managed a bit last week, I can recommend Warwick Castle to keep two boys amused for a day.

Bren,
Work/life balance is the one. I'm generally fairly well managed, but work has taken over recently, leading to a bit of a downer. It won't last long (the downer).

Mr Fish, bloody hell ! You still check in on this rubbish then.
Different times indeed.
Hope all is well, stay away from horses, you could never back them properly, let alone ride them !

Backing horses (in a betting sense) is a Black Art. These days I only stick money on horses that are related to ones I own, that way I know who it is I'm losing money on. :-)

Gumph, if you want a chat or series of chats away from this forum drop me a line. My big pro bono client is hardly using their allocation of time so I'd be willing to let you have it if you thought it may be useful.

Times... Well, seeing as I get up around 5.30, being able to rattle something out at 8-ish is fairly straightforward.

£4,200 is my bottom line for the box. And you should stop falling off horses you know... :)
